Compressed
Compressed
In its most basic sense, the word compress refers to the process of pressing or flattening objects or items together into a small space. The term however, can be applied to a number of things.
In the fields of mechanics and engineering, air compression would mean increasing the air pressure in order to create a force. This force is then utilized for commercial, industrial and manufacturing purposes.
There are a number of air compressors and gas compressor devices used this process. Examples of these are nail guns, spray guns, staplers, ratchet wrenches, air pumps, and many more.
The process of air compression is also present in biology. In fact, the human lungs is considered as the simplest yet most effective air compressor. Air compression usually occurs whenever a person takes a deep breath followed by a forceful exhale.
Compression is not exclusive to air or gas compression. In computer science, the term compressed would translate to data compression. This is a technology which enables large data to be stored in a small memory space. This function reduces the files' bits and bytes which then allows faster network transfer while saving memory space. The computer format .zip for instance, is a file that contains reduced or compressed data.
